Support the mission
Your donation keeps a family from waiting alone.
A donation means a newcomer family in British Columbia gets help the same week they ask, not months later. It’s how we stay free, with no waitlist, for every family who calls. Our charity number is pending. Once it’s in place, you’ll be able to give here.

Stories
Stories from families who found their footing.
“When we support a child with special needs, we must also remember to support the siblings growing up alongside them.”
“She is the one person that you can count on to show up at any time.”
“His autism diagnosis at age two, after early concerns from family and preschool, profoundly shifted our world. For immigrant parents like us, navigating this new reality compounded the challenges.”
More real voices coming, as families give permission to share them

Founder, Steady Path Society
From our founder
Cordelia has been doing this since 2014, long before it was a nonprofit.
It started with one family, then another, by phone, from her living room, around a full-time rotating shift schedule. Cordelia is a mother of a child with special needs. She arrived in Canada not knowing how the system works, and learned it the hard way so other families don’t have to.
“Whatever home is, I want it to feel like home. Because that’s the difference between a house and a home. I want that person to feel: this is home, this is family.”
2014
Started informally, from her living room
2026
Registered May 31 as a BC nonprofit
A new program
The siblings carry it too.
A sibling learns to read a room before they learn to read a book. when to ask for help, when to stay quiet, when it’s their turn to be the strong one. Cordelia has watched that happen in other families, and in her own.
So we’re building a program that supports the whole household together: the sibling, the parents, and the child. If this is your family, tell us. It will shape what we build.
One program, three people
- The siblings
The brothers and sisters who carry it quietly, the ones support systems overlook.
- The parents
Room to talk about the child who isn’t the diagnosis, without guilt.
- The child
Support for the child with special needs stays at the centre, not pushed aside.
Questions
Answers before you call.
Does it cost anything?+
No. Every session is free. No one is turned away for inability to pay, and that has been true since 2014.

Is anything I share confidential?+
Yes. Conversations are private and judgment-free. We're not here to report on you — we're here to walk beside you.

Volunteer with us
We need people who can sit with a family, help them work a system out, or talk with a parent one to one. A few hours a month is enough. There is an application and a criminal record check, and Cordelia speaks to everyone herself.

Every program is free, and donations are what keep it that way, covering the costs behind the scenes so families never have to.
