Your trust matters to us. This page explains, in plain language, what personal information we collect on this website, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Who we are
Steady Path Society is a nonprofit organization based in Chilliwack, British Columbia, supporting newcomer families raising children with disabilities. This policy explains how we handle personal information on this website.
You can reach us any time at steadypathsociety@gmail.com, or by phone on +1 (236) 615-0399. We work across the Fraser Valley and the Lower Mainland rather than from a public office, so there is no postal address to write to.
Information we collect
Information you give us: your name, email, phone number, and anything you choose to share when you contact us, request a session, or sign up for our newsletter.
Event registration: if you register for an event, we ask for your name, email, phone, how many people are coming, which best describes you, and anything that would make the day easier for you. We keep it in a database on our own hosting account so the guest list survives a lost email, and we use it to run the event and, if you tick the box, to send you updates. We delete it within 30 days after the event unless you asked for updates.
Volunteer applications: if you apply to volunteer with our programmes, the form asks for more than that. The role means sitting with families. We ask where you live, the languages you speak, your professional background, and any lived experience you choose to describe. We also ask how much time you have and why you want to do it. We use your answers to decide whether to invite you to an interview, and for nothing else. Your application goes to our founder by email. We publish none of it. Our contact system holds your name, email and phone so we can reach you; it never receives the rest of your answers.
Criminal record checks: applying does not start one. If we invite you further, we will arrange the check with you and tell you what it involves before it happens.
Sibling Support applications: if you apply for a place in our Sibling Support program, the form asks for more than most forms on this site. It covers your child's name, age, date of birth and preferred name; your name, relationship, phone, email and home address; the name, age and general support needs of the sibling the group is about; family context; an emergency contact; and a medical and safety section covering allergies, medical conditions, medications and accessibility needs. It also asks four screening questions about the applicant's experience as a sibling. We use this to decide who is offered a place and to run the sessions safely, and for nothing else. Your application goes to our founder by email; we publish none of it. This collection includes a child's health information, which is materially heavier than any other form here. Our founder reads the whole application. The people who run the sessions see only allergies and the accessibility or support needs you list, never the diagnosis or your home address. We keep an application for one year after the last class of the programme it applied for, and then delete it.
Donations: donations are handled by our third-party donation platform. We may receive the details a donor chooses to share (such as name and email). We do not see or store your full card number.
Bookings: session requests are handled through our booking provider. Information you enter there is governed by that provider and by this policy.
Automatically: we use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It records which pages are viewed, the visitor's country, the type of device and browser, and which site a visit came from. Cloudflare states that it does not use cookies or local storage for this, and that it does not collect or use visitors' personal data.
How we use your information
To respond to you and provide the free support you ask for; to send the newsletter you signed up for; to understand, in aggregate, how the site is used so we can improve it; and to meet our legal and administrative obligations.
We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
Consent
We collect and use your personal information with your consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time, for example by unsubscribing from the newsletter or emailing us, and we will stop, subject to any legal requirements.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the service providers who help us operate: our donation platform, booking provider, email and hosting services, our analytics provider, Cloudflare, and only as needed to provide the service. They are expected to protect your information and use it only for that purpose.
We may also disclose information if required by law. Otherwise, we do not share it.
Cookies
This website does not use tracking or advertising cookies. Our analytics does not use cookies or local storage. When you close the bar at the top of a page, or a pop-up about a programme opens, your browser keeps a small note so we do not show it to you again for 7 to 14 days. The note stays on your device until you clear your browser's site data, and it is never sent to us. We use nothing else beyond what the site needs to function.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, or as long as the law requires, and then securely delete or anonymize it.
Your rights
Under British Columbia and Canadian privacy law (including PIPEDA), you may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent. Contact us and we will help.
If you have a concern we cannot resolve, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to keep your information safe.
Children
Our work supports families, including children. This website is not intended for children to submit personal information directly. A parent or guardian should manage any contact with us.

Our site links to government and community resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other websites; please review their policies.
